ROCK RIDGE FIRE DEPARTMENT
The Rock Ridge Fire Department is dedicated to providing life safety, incident stabilization, and property conservation. Our firefighters are some of the most dedicated and well trained individuals in the fire service.
The National Volunteer Fire Council Model Calculator estimates that RRFD saves our district a total annual volunteer savings of almost three million dollars ($2,935,600). With the department’s dedication and commitment, we will continue to protect the lives and properties of the Rock Ridge Community.
our history
On April 7, 1961 the department directors voted to purchase the first fire truck manufactured by American La France. One month later, the first 26 firefighters volunteered and training began to serve the citizens of Rock Ridge.

SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES
Three of every five home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with no smoke alarms (38%) or no working smoke alarms (21%). To prevent this, you should test all smoke alarms at least once a month. Press the test button to be sure the alarm is works.
There are two kinds of alarms: Ionization Smoke Alarms and Photoelectric Alarms. Ionization Smoke Alarms are quicker to warm about flaming fires and photoelectric alarms are quicker to warm about smoldering fires.
It is best to use both types of alarms in your home.
Install smoke alarms in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area and on every level of the home, including the basement, and replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old.
